Dean's Message

The College of Sericulture was established at Chintamani, Chickballapur District during 1995 with the objectives of serving the districts (Chickballapur and Kolar) having maximum potential for Sericultural development and ruralization of Sericultural and Agricultural Education. In 1995 B.Sc. (Seri)Degree Program was started and in 2007, B.Sc. (Agri.) degree programme was added due to increasing demand from the public and the facilities available on the campus. This college is an unique Institution in imparting Agricultural Education in general and Sericultural Education in particular (Only college in whole of Asia to offer Sericultural degree of four years duration).
The college has well established laboratories, class rooms, seminar hall and excellent field facilities for conducting practicals. The college and hostels have been well connected with internet facilities. The library is completely digitalized and has the facility of browsing with other libraries for on line reference of books and journals available within the country and outside.
A team of dedicated teachers in various subjects are consolidating their efforts for imparting quality education to the students. The students counseling is given utmost care to build up the personality and over all development of pupils. The faculty are guiding the students for their academic improvements and to take up various competitive examinations.
In order to encourage the students in both sports and cultural activities, the college has playgrounds for various games like foot ball, basket ball, volley ball, badminton and others. Gymnasium facilities have been provided in both boys and girls hostels separately.

About Us

The College of Sericulture under University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore was started during 1995. It is located at Chintamani which is 75 km away from Bangalore. The college is situated at 7th km on Chintamani - Kolar Road. It is only one education centre in Asia offering B.Sc. (Sericulture) degree programme of 4 years. This college has been adjudged as the best out Station College by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi during the year 2003.
This campus is spread over 180 acres of land. The college is offering both B.Sc. (Seri.) and B.Sc. (Agri.) degree programmes. Besides this, Agricultural Research Station is conducting research on dry land agriculture, horticulture and other crop research programme. For the transfer of technology to the farmers Krishi Vigynan Kendra and Community Based Tank Management Project Consultancy Services are also functioning efficiently.
So far 242 students have obtained B.Sc. (Sericulture) degree from this college out of which 214 are employed in government and other prestige institutes.
The college has well equipped lecture halls, laboratories, computer facilities, library, sports facilities, hostels for both boys and girls besides hands on training units for the specialization for graduation students.
Hostels
Separate Hostels are available for Boys and Girls with capacity for 96 and 27 boarders, respectively.
Eligibility
Eligibility for admission to the B.Sc.(Seri.) and B.Sc. (Agri.) Degree Programme is 10+2 with PCMB as optionals.
