The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, a premier Agricultural University in India, came into existence in 1964. It is located on NH-7, Bellary Road, 14 kms from Bangalore city Bus/Railway station and 25 kms from International Airport, Bangalore.
Mission
Teaching, Research and Extension.
Goal
To develop technical manpower in Agricultural Sciences and attain higher Agricultural productivity for well being through Teaching, Research and Extension in Agricultural and Allied Sciences.
University has excelled in many dimensions
UAS Graduates have been top ranking in ICAR-JRF Examination (2001-2007).
First in Sports and Cultural activities in All India Agricultural Inter-University meet (2003-2007).

**** Twenty two foreign students have been provided at Staff quarters and Farmers Training Hostel in the main campus due to non-availability of Hostel facilities.

Activities

Message
I am happy to extend warm welcome to the Dean of Student Welfare wing of the UAS, Bangalore. We play a pivotal role in the overall development of students through organizing various co-curricular activities like sports & games, cultural events, performing arts, fine arts and literary events etc. Our Directorate meticulously works towards showcasing the latent potential of the students which created a treasure trove of talents and resulted in enthusiastic participation of the university in various All India level competitions. We promote Physical education, NSS, NCC besides dealing with student’s misconduct, excessive absenteeism and other such irregularities for ensuring discipline among the student community on the campus. Students take active participation in various club activities, study centres, recreation centres etc., that inculcate leadership qualities among them. All round Personality development of students is one of the prime motos where in skills – inter personal skills, communication skills, interview skills, study skills, stress management, risk management and career advancement etc., is promoted by getting the experts training.
Along with the extramural activities, the directorate also oversees hostels equipped with modern facilities in different campuses. Further, the well maintained International hostel with high-quality amenities and a proactive Foreign Students Centre attract many students from overseas. Placement Cell is providing on-campus placements for the better career of students in consultation with different organizations, firms and industries. Health programmes and medical facilities for the students are being provided. Besides, Compulsory Group Health Insurance scheme has been introduced for providing better health services.
This apart, the directorate celebrates all the national festivals like Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanthi etc., with fervour and gaiety in a befitting manner. Observance of Communal Harmony Fortnight and Sadbhavana Day promote communal harmony on the campus and off the campus too. Above all, the onus of planning, directing and coordinating with other offices of the University for All Non-curricular Activities is vested with us.

Physical Education
The University lays a great emphasis on the role of games and sports to keep the students physically efficient, mentally alert, morally sound and socially well behaved. These activities are organised through 19 games and sports clubs like Athletics, badminton, Basket ball Cricket, Football, Gymanastics, Hockey, Indoor games, Kabbadi, Tennis, Kho Kho, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Volleyball and Yogic exercises under over all supervision of University Sports Council/Student Welfare. The University provides sufficient games and sports materials to the students as well as University level teams. Sufficient numbers of hostel wise and central play grounds in addition to full fledges stadium, adequately equipped gymnasium physical fitness centre and athletic as well as sports and games events.
Coaching Facilities
Coaching facilities are available in the University for making the students efficient in various games. The students can contact the Physical Education staff to guidance.
Hostels
All student are required to live in 4 College Hostels including Girls Hostels with separate arrangemetns for Post Graduate and Under Graduate Hostels at GKVK Campus. The Boys and Girls Hostels are situated at GKVK, Chintamani, Mandya & Hassan. The Chief Wardens are looking after the hostels. There is a common room with a coloured TV with Cable facility, internet, Music room, indoor games room and a library having selected books, magazines and new paper etc., besides courts to volley Ball, badminton, Basket Ball and table Tennis in most of the Hostels. The Hostel Cafeteria is equipped with refrigerator, Water Cooler, Solar, LPG Cooking, Job Computer facility, BSNL Telephone booth. Each Hostel Cafeteria is run and managed by the students No Profit no loss basis through Hostel Supervisory Committee All students residing in the Hostels are to abide by Hostel Rules and Regulations/rules.
Medical and Health Centre
A full fledged University Hospital under the supervision of a whole time Chief Medical Officer incharge Surgeon, Two Contract Medical Officer, a Lady Medical Officer render round teh clock service to the students and staff members and their families. There are separate ward for Male and female students. All the serious cases are referred to big hospitals like Malya Hospital, Manipal Hospital, Columbia Hospital.
Placement and Counselling Cells
The students are provided guidance in seeking jobs in companies, Banks, Industries and seeking higher education in India and abroad and also the fellowship/scholarship available for these studies through a counselling cell. A Co ordinator helps and guides the students in securing jobs and admission and fellowships for the above purpose.
National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme each students of I and II Year participate to earn credits during his degree programme by attending 10 days special camp organised in the adopted colony and completing the course activities. The NSS is co ordinated by Dr.Shivalinge Gowda, NSS students are required to work in villages under this scheme.
Other General Activities
Travel facilities: To facilitate, travelling by students going to their homes during the semester break and to undertake study tours in different parts of India, railway concession orders are arranged for them
Celebration of National Festival : Indipendance Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, etc,, are celebrated in a befitting manner.
