Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC)
The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore established Agricultural Technology Information Centre during November 1999 under the National Agriculture Technology Project in collaboration with Indian council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. This centre is offering single window delivery system for agricultural information as well as products such as seeds, planting material, nutrient mixtures, biofertilizers, biopesticides, value added products and technologies developed by the University. In addition, providing technical advisory services to the farmers about agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, sericulture, forestry and other allied subjects through different extension methods at free of cost. Further, to meet the demands of farmers and other stakeholders, a unit of Horticulture nursery was established at ATIC, GKVK, UAS, Bangalore in collaboration with Nurserymen Co-operative Society, State Department of Horticulture. In addition to these activities, e-krishiuasb portal has been established at ATIC under RKVY project which contains technical information of cultivation practices of agricultural and horticultural crops, animal husbandry, sericulture, fisheries, etc. Further, Video-Conferencing facility was created at 7 KVKs, 1 EEU of Mysuru and main expert center at ATIC, UAS, GKVK to conduct need based video conferencing to farmers / scientists / extension workers and other stakeholders which would facilitate them to obtain on spot technical solutions apart from conducting meetings, interaction sessions and trainings. - To offer single window delivery system for agricultural information and the products at institutional level
- To render farm advisory services to solve problems through multidisciplinary approach from different Subject Matter Specialists
- To provide agriculture improved technologies through publications and other medias to the farmers
- To establish a mechanism to get the feedback from the users to the University
- To disseminate technical information through Information and communication tools.
- To provide single widow delivery system for agricultural information and the products emerging as a result of research being done at the University like seeds, nursery seedlings, biofertilizers, biopesticides, nutrient mixtures, published literature and processed products etc. to the farmers and the other stakeholders
- To provide technical advisory services to farmers at free of cost about agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, sericulture and other allied subjects through different extension methods
- To publish and sell the agriculture and horticulture package of practices, animal husbandry, fisheries and sericulture package of practices, folders and bulletins from its operational cost
- To exhibit university technologies and participate in sale of books, package of practices, multimedia DVDs and other literature in the agricultural exhibitions organised by other institutions
- To establish a mechanism to get the feedback from the farmers about the released technologies and passing to the research wing
- To strengthen the linkage between the University and the farmers.
