Ø Development of varieties / hybrid suitable for early Kharif and Kharif (grain and fodder type). Ø Development of dual purpose and early Varieties and Hybrids. Ø Monitoring multi location and testing of coordinated trials. Ø Participate in Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs), Scheduled Caste Sub Plan(SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Programmes. Ø Development and popularise integrated crop production technologies and plant protection practices to major insects and diseases. |

Research Accomplishments :
(Varieties released /Technologies developed / Patents developed/ Commercialized etc…) v CNFS-1 single cut fodder sorghum variety is accepted for release in zone 6 of Karnataka state and also at All India level its ranks First in green fodder yield and advanced to AVHT-SC Second year trial. v CNGS-1 and CNGS-2 grain sorghum varieties, there were in multi location evaluation trial at state level (Zone-6). v CNGS-2 is advanced to AVT-I-Grain Sorghum trial in All India Level. v A total of 235 germplasm lines (both grain and fodder type) were locally collected from different villages of Chamarajanagara and Ramanagara Districts of South Karnataka and also maintained total of 550 germplasm lines. v A total of 1200 germplasm lines were evaluated and characterized for early type, grain, fodder and dual purposes. Superior genotypes were identified for different desirable traits. v Centre was initiated the Parental Line Developmental programme. v Centre was initiated the development of early and high yielding hybrids suitable for early kharif and kharif. v Centre was identified some lines which are tolerant to shoot fly and midge, these lines are utilizing in crossing programme. v Organized the field day and training programme for farmers on improved varieties/hybrids of sorghum and improved agronomic practices also distributed the agriculture inputs, Agricultural tools and sorghum seeds to three hundred farmers including tribals of different areas of chamarajanagara district under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) and Scheduled Caste Sub Plan(SCSP). |
