Department of Sericulture at Mandya has got separate silkworm rearing house to take up 75 disease free laying of silkworm rearing. Farm with 20guntas has been exclusively maintained for Mulberry leaf production of V1 variety. 2 guntas of tree type of mulberry with V1 variety and remaining 2 guntas are maintained to cultivate different mulberry varieties viz., Mysore local, Sahana, S36, DD, AR12, G-2 and G-4. The department offering 4 courses for B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture and 2 courses for Diploma (Agri.) students. Extension services in sericulture particularly scientific methods of mulberry cultivation, nursery production and silkworm rearing is being provided to the farmers of Mandya and surrounding districts.
