Department of Agricultural Microbiology

The University of Agricultural Sciences is a pioneer Agricultural University in India to create a separate and independent Department of Agricultural Microbiology in 1966 with mandate to educate and train undergraduate and postgraduate students. Being subcampus of UAS, Bangalore the College of Agriculture, V.C.Farm, Mandya as an independent status, the Department of Agricultural Microbiology (AMB) was established in 2012. Since then, the department has steadily grown along with establishment of new production unit of Bio-fertilizers and Bio-inoculants during 2021-22 for the benefit of students especially under the experiential learning programme offered by the department to the Under Graduate students help to acquaint and equip the students on mass production of microbial inoculants and each year 75% of the revenue generated during the period is being given to the participating students and which is more benefitted to farmers. The students, faculty and staff are integral parts of family that we proudly call AMB family.

The department is well with all sophisticated equipments to assist UG and PG practical classes and research work. The department has released novel technology of sugar cane trash decomposer for the wellbeing of sugarcane farmers and mainly soil health. Being a faculty involved in consultancy and regular technical advice to farmers as a part of extension activites along with teaching and research
