Mandates:

·         To study the agricultural climate in relation to crop planning and assessment of crop production potentials in different agroclimatic regions.

·         To establish crop-weather relationships for all the major rainfed and irrigated crops in different agroclimatic regions.

·         To evaluate the different techniques of modification of crop micro-climate for improving the water use efficiency and productivity of the crops.

·         To study the influence of weather on the incidence and spread of pests and diseases of field crops.

·         To provide the technical support for Agromet advisory services

Research Programmes:

v  Agro- Climatic Characterization of Southern Karnataka

v  Crop-weather relationship in finger millet, pigeon pea, groundnut and mango

v  Crop-Pest-weather relationship in pigeon pea, groundnut and mango

v  Development of statistical models for establishing the relationship between the weather and the crop

v  Calibration and validation of crop simulation models to get the decision support in crop production under different agroclimatic zones

v  Development of thumb rules for different pest and diseases for mandate crops

v  Agromet advisory services (AAS)
