Welcome to the College of Agriculture, Hassan. As part of government policy to ruralize agricultural education in the country and knowing the importance of agricultural education in rural areas, the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore has rightly selected Hassan as the ideal location to start Agricultural College as the district is blessed with four agro-climatic zones namely, Central Dry Zone (Zone 4), Southern Dry Zone (Zone 6), Southern Transitional Zone (Zone7) and Hilly Zone (Zone 9), which are congenial for growing various field crops as well as fruits, vegetables and plantation crops. This provides an opportunity for the students to get exposure to diversified crops and cropping systems and unique opportunity to conduct research in wide areas. College is located at 20 kms from Hassan city on Hassan-Bangalore national highway (NH-75) and opposite to Agricultural Research Station, Madenur and Biofuel Park of the UAS (B). It is well connected through rail and road. The college would help the farming community of the State in general and Hassan district in particular by way of producing well trained manpower, genuine agricultural inputs like seeds, planting materials and other information from time to time for overall development of the rural community.

The College of Agriculture, Hassan offers three degree programmes namely B.Sc.(Hons.) Agriculture, B.Tech. (Biotechnology) and B.Tech. (Food Technology) and separate infrastructures have been created for each of the degree programmes. From the academic year 2022-23, three Post Graduate degree programmes viz., M.Sc. (Agri.) in Entomology, M.Tech in Food Processing Technology and M.Sc. (Agri.) in Molecular biology and Biotechnology were also started in the College.

The College is accredited by ICAR, New Delhi and implemented the recommendations of the Fifth Deans’ Committee of ICAR with effect from the academic year 2016-17, with a total credits of 183 which is common for all the UG degree programmes across the Country. Further, the extracurricular activities like NSS, physical education and yoga practices have been included as a part of syllabus. A new programme on student READY (Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness and Development Yojana) has been introduced from the academic year 2016-17.

The College has well equipped classrooms, sports, hostel and library facilities with a total area of 184.25 acres out of which, cultivable area is 80 acres with 25 acres under irrigation.

Indeed, it’s a matter of pride for me to share that many of our graduates are employment providers as they have become successful entrepreneurs. I am proud of them. Our students have exhibited their talent in not only curricular activities but also in extracurricular activities. It is noteworthy to mention here that our students have excelled in various national-level tests like ICAR-JRF, GATE, GATB and entrance examinations of NIFTEM, CFTRI, CAT etc., every year and this number is increasing year after year. Our students have brought laurels in cultural and sports activities by winning prizes at various levels viz., District, University, Zone, State and National level.
