Landmark judgement in 1997, the supreme court had for the first time acknowledged sexual harassment against women as a human rights violation and outlined guidelines making it mandatory to provide for sympathetic and non-retributive mechanisms to enforce the right to gender equality for working women.
With the enactment of the sexual harassment of women at workplace(prevention, Prohibition and Redressed Act 2013) requires an employer to set up an ICC and Woman safety cell at each organization.
University Grants Commission belives that a safe secure and cohesive learning climate is an ineluctable preconditok to quality education and research in Higher Education Institute.
Objectives
- To educate girl students on women safety of all strata due to gender issues.
- To create an environment of gender justice where men and women work together with a sense of personal security and dignity.
- To create awarnessss amongst students about the issues related to the youth girls in particular
- To disseminate knowledge about rights and laws related to women
- To create a sense of responsibility in the students and have healthy study and work culture in all schools of University
- To enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of girl students, women faculty and staff in University
- To provide opportunities to girl students to women employees to participate in and interact at conferences etc., related to gender issue.
