Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry

A healthy soil is the foundation for the raise of all civilization. A soft bed over the planet Earth, woven with minerals, organic matter, liquid and air, with innumerable microorganisms provide the base for raising crop plants for human subsistence. We help to see the soil in a more scientific manner and teach the modern techniques of managing soil health, eco-system and biodiversity. The department offers M.Sc. and Ph.Dprogrammes beside offering specific courses for B.Sc.( Hons.) Agri. and Diploma (Agri.) The master’s degree programme in Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry was started in the year 2013-14 and doctoral studies in 2021-22, with vision of quality human resource creation for understanding the soil bonded with biodiversity for food and nutritional security, with the following specific objectives.

  • To provide students on opportunity to take choice based courses and conduct original, master’s-level research in the area of their interest in soil science and agricultural chemistry.
  • To provide teaching, research, industry and extension service learning experience.
  • To prepare professional soil scientists with career knowledge and entrepreneurial quality.
