Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC)

Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) was started during the year 1999 under the National Agriculture Technology Project (NATP). ATIC is offering single window system for agricultural information as well as products such as seeds, planting material, nutrient mixtures, biofertilizers, biopesticides, value added products and technologies developed by the University. In addition a platform was created to allow optimistic interaction between farmers and Subject Matter Specialists for effective technology transfer and livelihood improvement. Further, to meet the demands on horticultural plants by the residents of north bengaluru, a unit of Horticulture nursery was established at ATIC, GKVK, UAS, Bengaluru, in collaboration with Nurserymen Co-operative Society, State Department of Horticulture, Lalbagh, Bengaluru. In addition to these activities, e-krishiuasb portal has been established at ATIC under RKVY project during December, 2013 which contains technical information of cultivation practices of agricultural and horticultural crops, animal husbandry, sericulture, fisheries, etc., and this e-Krishi UAS-B portal is open for public use. Further, Video-Conferencing facility was created at 7 KVKs, 1 EEU of Mysuru and main expert center at ATIC, UAS, GKVK is under process of implementation, to conduct need based video conferencing to farmers which would facilitate farmers to obtain on spot technical solutions apart from conducting meetings and trainings. Thus, ATIC is functioning as a repository of agricultural information.

Objectives:
  • To provide diagnostic and advisory services to farmers through technical information dissemination and field visits.
  • To build up required confidence among farmers and to strengthen linkage between the University and the farmers.
  • To sell and distribute improved products emerging as a result of research being done at the University like seeds, horticultural plants, biofertilizers, biopesticides, nutrient mixtures, published literature and processed products etc.
  • To provide an overview of improved technology through published literatures and other communication materials.
  • To overcome technology dissemination loss and to provide direct access to farmers to improved expertise as well as technical products/implements.
  • To provide an opportunity to different divisions as well as the centres to have resource generation through sale of their technologies.
Mandate:
  • To render farm advisory services through multidisciplinary approach to problem solving.
  • To offer single window delivery system for agricultural information as well as products and technologies developed by the University in order to develop quality service to clientele.
  • To provide all the technical information to the farmers under one roof and to facilitate direct access to the farmers to the institutional resources for reducing dissemination losses.
  • To establish a mechanism to get the feedback from the users to the University
